Recipe from Half Crown Hill Orchard

 Make pastry for 9 inch two crust pie
 Boil together for 3 min -
 1 cup sugar
 2 cups water
 3 tablespoons butter
 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
 Fill cavities of apples with -
 1/2 cup sugar
 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
 Dot with --
 1 tablespoon butter

Preheat oven to 425.

Roll out pastry a little less than 1/8 inch thick, and cut into 7 inch squares. Peel and core a medium apple for each dumpling. Prepare syrup.

Place each apple on square of pastry. Fill core cavity with sugar and cinnamon mixture ... dot with butter.
Bring opposite sides of pastry up and over apple, overlap, moisten, and seal.
Lift carefully, place a little apart in baking dish. Pour hot syrup around dumplings.
Bake at 425 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes.
