Recipe from Half Crown Hill Orchard

1 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups light brown sugar firmly packed
1/4 cup honey
3 eggs
3 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
3/4 cup walnuts (optional)
1 cup peeled, grated apples
12 ounces chocolate chips

Cream together shortening and brown sugar until light and fluffy; add honey. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift together flour,
salt, baking soda, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add to creamed mixture, mixing well. Stir in nuts, apples and chocolate chips. Mix well. Drop by teaspoonfuls on
greased baking sheet.

Bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes, or until done.

Makes 6 dozen.
